The Hongkong Prize Winners Announced

The winners of the hongkong prize have been announced. The prizes were presented at a ceremony in the city this evening. A total of five Hongkongers have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Jimmy Lai, Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, Gwyneth Ho and Joshua Wong have been nominated for their fervent dedication to protect freedoms in Hong Kong and campaigning for democracy. The prize was established to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions towards world peace and human welfare.

HK$12m for gold, HK$6m for silver and HK$3m for bronze will be awarded to the team members of Hong Kong at this year’s Olympics. This is the second time that Hong Kong has offered such a large sum for team events, after the 2012 Summer Olympics. Athletes who finish outside the top three will also receive a substantial amount of cash, with those finishing fourth earning HK$750,000 and those in fifth to eighth receiving HK$375,000.

The 2024 Asian Young Scientist Fellowship (AYSF) Annual Conference was held today at the University of Hong Kong. This year’s awardees were introduced by the organisers, with Life Science Prize Laureate Ng Siew Chien and Physical Science Prize Laureates Luk Kambiu and Joseph Sriyal Malik Peiris sharing their research journey.
