The HK Prize and the 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

The inaugural HK$100 million HK Prize was announced in October 2018 to encourage Hong Kong enterprises to innovate and create new products or services that will contribute to the long-term competitiveness of the industry, and benefit local consumers. The HK Prize is the first of its kind in Asia. It offers a total of HK$100 million in cash and HK$100 million worth of products and services to the winners.

In addition to the main prize, there are other special prizes for the winners. For example, the runner who wins the first prize will receive a trophy and a trip for two to Japan. The runners who come in second and third will each get a trophy and a one-way ticket to the UK. There is even a chance to win a free iPhone if you finish in the top three!

Founded in 1986, the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) is an annual film award ceremony held by the Hong Kong Film Critics Association. It is known for its Hong Kong-centric nature and the fact that it is the only film awards in the world whose voters are comprised of professional film workers. The winners are determined by a panel of judges composed of members from thirteen professional film bodies in Hong Kong.

This year’s HK Prize saw the number of nominations and votes increase by 30% compared to the previous year. This is a clear indication of the growing popularity and recognition of the award in the local community. The 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon was held on Sunday, November 24, 2024. The race has become the largest annual international marathon event in Asia and hosted the 8th Asian Marathon Championships for the fourth time this year, with a record high number of participants from 24 Asian countries / regions participating. The race also benefited local runners with the return of an upgraded “Marathon Special Incentive Award”. Permanent Hong Kong residents who completed the Marathon Challenge in under 3 hours for men and 3 hours 30 minutes for women were rewarded with the award, which is equivalent to a HK$10,000 cash prize.

This year’s HK Prize will see the boosted PP bonus for Griffin races rise by 8.7% to HK$950,000 a race, and this increase will spread to Group 1 races as well, where the Chairman’s Sprint Prize purse is raised by a full 5.9% to HK$20 million. This year’s HK Prize will also see the Quartet and First 4 Merged Pools enhanced by 7.4%.
